The Great American Road Trip begins in 3 weeks!

For years Linda and I have dreamed about taking the kids to see the Grand Canyon and we hit the road in 3 weeks!  Our quest is to explore the West Coast and southwest to see the canyons.  We were there when we were kids, and we want to share that experience with our kids.  Buying junk in an old fashioned General Store is a Rite of Passage for a kid.  That's where I bought my first wallet at age 8!

Luckily we kept a blog during our last road trip and I recently reviewed the blog entries and had a good laugh, especially after reading the trip summary:  All Good Things....  Good memories.  It's times like these that I want to drop out of the rat race, buy an RV, and live on the road as the winner of the rat race is still a rat!

We will be driving 3,600 miles from Seattle to the Oregon Dunes, Redwoods, SF, Big Sur, LA, Route 66, Vegas Baby!, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Arches, and home through Boise!  Along the way, we'll see sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, our BFFL's, and hopefully the Milky Way!  The stats on past family vacations indicates that we'll also visit 1.7 ERs, so we'll be sure to bring our insurance card.  You'll see from the 2006 RV trip that we visited 3 ERs in 2 states (yes, I'm proud of that record!).  We find ERs in Maui to be the slowest, and the ERs in Colorado with the best food (thinking about writing a book... hmmm... maybe George Clooney would be interested in starring in the made for TV version).

The kids are getting excited and Linda and I are crossing our fingers that the Family Truckster makes it through the intense heat, high attitudes, and back to the Land of Grunge.
