Day 3

Driving from map points 5 to 6

We departed Crescent City, California with no particular place to go, just to drive south on 101.  Amazing coastal views, big trees.  We got a pretty late start and were low on energy, so seeing the trees from the car was just fine by us.  We found Eureka and decided to take in Transformers 3, then continued our journey down 101.  Once we left Eureka, we knew that we were taking our chances on finding a vacant room, on a holiday weekend, along 101.  Yep… we finally found shelter just before 10pm at Bob’s Place or something, but were very thankful.  As we didn’t have cell service along 101, it took us stopping at 5-6 places and hearing, “we just rented our last room.”  A northern California driving experience is not complete without staying in a roadside motel that has an extension cord coming out of the bathroom to power the room lamp!   We also have some pretty interesting video of the kids freaking out in the car that is just hilarious; however, they won’t let us post them.  If we happened to bump into you, remind us to show them to you. :-)
