Getting Ready!
T minus 13 days

Well, we got the RV reserved, the KOA reservations set, saw the movie 'RV,' and still managed to convinced the family that living in a 'rolling terd' for 12 days is a good thing!

Our goal for this mission is to create precious memories for our children and not forget one of them at a scenic overlook.

Our planned itinerary:

  • Wednesday, June 28th: Depart Seattle and drive I-90 as far as the caffiene lasts - hopefully within a couple hours of Yellowstone.
  • Thursday, June 29th: Play in Yellowstone.
  • Friday, June 30th: Go back and get Graham from the last stop; see the Grand Tetons.
  • Saturday, July 1: White-water rafting on the Snake River near Jackson Hole.
  • Sunday, July 2: All-day drive to the Denver area, arrive at the home of Jeff's 'little' sister.
  • Monday, July 3 through Wednesday, July 5: Reconnect with the extended family.
  • Thursday, July 6: Head to the Mountains, visit Grand Junction.
  • Friday, July 7th: Dig for Dinosaurs in Dinosaur, Colorado.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Drive all weekend back to Seattle.
  • Monday, July 10: Recover from over-stimulation, too-much family bonding, and our backaches from sleeping in an RV for two weeks.
Check back for updates on our travels.

Bye!

Hello Hanson Clan,
I am glad to see you are all still alive. I was counting heads to make certain no one was left at a rest area! Having been to Grand Junction a bunch of times, you might want to pass on by that one. Not much there other than the Colorado National Monument. Love the rolling terd name. Too funny. Drive safe. We miss you. Laura.

We're enjoing the pictures & the coments, your are making history with the kids that they will never forget! I have passed the blog on to some of our friends & they think its fabulous. We have the ox roast today & they sold 670 tickets, we don't know where all the people come from for little Forest Lake. Enjoy the trip, we're waiting for the next set of pictures. Wish we were with you. Love Mom & Dad, Grandma & Grandpa.

We had the OX roast today & the meat is beef that they cook on a large open pit using charcoal (500 lbs) as the fuel. It has a motor that turns a shaft that the beef (450 lbs) is put on. They start the fire at 4 in the morning & start the meat at 5:30am. They removing it about 12:30 for carving. Grandpa & three other people carve the beef for about 2 hours. Grandma heads up 10 ladies that serve the meal that includes potatoes, corn, beans, coldslaw, rolls, fruit & desert. All the people were feed in 1:20 minutes. Love Granpa.
